Teen charged after boy, 15, stabbed to death outside a shopping center in east London

Baptista Adjei, a 15-year old from North Woolwich, was critically injured when he was found at the Stratford Broadway on Thursday and died minutes after being found. The Police say that he was with another friend, also 15, when they were attacked on a bus, or after they got off it. The suspect surrendered himself to an east London police station on Friday and was charged with murder the next day. He was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent for his attack on Baptista’s friend, as well as possessing an offensive weapon on two counts.
The suspect will appear before the Stratford Youth Court on the 14th of October. The teen was knifed in front of a McDonald’s at a shopping center when friends and bystanders rushed to help him. Paramedics found critical injuries, but couldn’t save him.
His aunt, Aretha Adjei, said that Baptista was a fun loving15-year-old and happy child. He died in his school uniform. He had just finished school and spoke to his mother about returning home after a short trip to McDonald’s 20 minutes before he was stabbed. He was a regular at Church and was popular.
Baptista’s football team, Mindset FC, tweeted that Baptista was a humble and well-mannered boy who was talented as well. It is a dark moment for his former teammates.
